What is a CSA?
We are adopting a Community Supported Agriculture model to distribute the produce that we grow. We are concerned at how fragile the current global food systems are and believe CSA is one way that we can respond to this. CSA’s re-connect communities with the food they eat, while supporting the people who grow that food.
CSA’s vary in their specifics but ours seeks to invite customers to join as a ‘member’ of the Tir Awen CSA for the season and commit to the purchase of weekly produce….known as a weekly 'veg share'. This means that as growers we can plan, plant, grow and harvest what is needed to fill our weekly boxes knowing that it will be sold and eaten. This not only reduces food waste but builds a solid base of support around us as growers to focus our time effectively on doing what we do best….growing and delivering fresh nutritious veg to your door.
In return you as our members are invited to connect with the land, how your food is grown and a wider community of people.
Benefits of your CSA membership:
- A weekly ‘share’ of our harvest that is fresh locally grown, nutritious food free from chemicals or pesticides
- A lower price per week for your veg box
- Reducing waste packaging and plastic, we will endeavour to minimise packaging and use reusable and plastic free options whenever we can
- Option to pay for your share upfront or in instalments.
- A weekly newsletter sharing the latest seasonal happenings in the market garden
- Opportunity to be part of the Tir Awen ‘cook up’ whats app group to share ideas, tips and recipes for the latest veg box items
- Getting to know the people who grow your food, how they grow it and the land on which its grown.
- Supporting a local, sustainable family run enterprise
- Volunteer opportunities throughout the year
- Joining the Tir Awen Community, you will be invited to seasonal gatherings and working parties at Tir Awen.
